National PI Day!

March 14th is a very special day for math lovers everywhere—it's National Pi Day! This fun day is all about the magical number pi (π), which is about 3.14. Pi helps us understand circles and is used in many cool math problems. To celebrate, we’ve planned some exciting activities that you can enjoy both at school and at home. Get ready to have fun with math, art, and, of course, pie!

Fun Activities for Everyone!

1. Pie Bake-Off

Do you love to bake? Encourage your kids to engage in a pie bake-off! Choose one or more flavors and bake a delicious homemade pie (it can be sweet or savory) to share with your family and neighbors. You can even have prizes for the “Most Creative Pie,” “Best Presentation,” and “Tastiest Pie.” Everyone will get to taste and vote, so let’s make it both yummy and fun!

2. Pi Recitation Contest

Think you can remember lots of pi digits? Have a family Pi Recitation Contest! See how many digits of pi you can recite from memory. Don’t worry if you only know a few—encourage all family members to participate and try again next year to see if there is a different winner! Let's see who can remember the most digits!

3. Circle Drawing Challenge

Get your art supplies ready! Have fun doing a circle drawing challenge. Try to draw the biggest and most perfect circle you can. You can use a compass, string, or just your hands! After drawing, have a parent measure everyone’s circles and see how they compare. This is a fun way to learn about circumference and diameter.

We encourage everyone to participate in these exciting activities to celebrate National Pi Day! Let’s make March 14th a day filled with creativity, learning, and, of course, delicious pie! Remember, math can be both fun and tasty!

Happy National Pi Day!
