Spring Cleaning at Home: A Fresh Start for Families!
Hope you all are refreshed after a much-needed time off! Spring is officially here, so it’s time for a beloved family tradition: spring cleaning! As we welcome the warmth of longer days, it’s the perfect opportunity to declutter, organize, and refresh our homes. Here are some fun tips to make spring cleaning a rewarding family experience.
Make It a Family Affair
Turn spring cleaning into a family event! Assign age-appropriate tasks to each family member—little ones can sort toys, while older kids can tackle their closets or help with dusting. Create a fun family playlist to enjoy while you work, turning chores into a lively gathering!
Decluttering Made Easy
Use the "Four-Box" method to streamline decluttering. Gather four boxes labeled: Keep, Donate, Repair, and Trash. Encourage kids to evaluate their belongings—do they really play with those toys or wear those clothes? This helps teach valuable lessons about generosity and sustainability.
Organize and Refresh
Once the decluttering is done, it’s time to organize! Use bins, baskets, or shelves to keep things in their place. Color coding can be a fun way to involve kids in the process—let them choose vibrant colors for their special items.
Celebrate Your Hard Work
After a successful spring cleaning session, celebrate your achievements! Enjoy a family meal, treat yourselves to some ice cream, or have a movie night. Recognizing your hard work fosters team spirit and excitement for next year’s spring cleaning!
Spring cleaning is a wonderful way for families to bond, teach valuable lessons, and create mindful spaces for the season ahead. So gather your supplies, play some cheerful music, and get ready to freshen up your home. Happy Spring Cleaning! 🌼

Book Tasting in the Library Last Week
Our library was transformed into a literary café as preschool through fifth-grade students participated in a book-tasting event! Rotating from table to table, students sampled books from different genres, empowering them to explore new stories, make independent reading choices, and discover what truly excites them as readers.
Book tastings are more than just a fun activity, they play a vital role in building a reading community, developing literacy skills, and promoting a love of lifelong reading. By exposing students to a variety of books, we encourage them to step outside their comfort zones and try something new. This event also supports literacy instruction, fosters self-reflection as readers, and inspires students to think about their reading preferences and goals.
It was fun to see students engage with books in such an exciting way. Who knows? They may have discovered a new favorite author, series, or genre that will fuel their reading journey for years to come!

3rd and 5th Graders in Music
Our 3rd graders have been learning the traditional Irish folk dance to the lively tune of "Rakes of Mallow." This engaging activity helps them understand musical phrasing while having a blast dancing together. The students are not only improving their coordination but also gaining a deeper appreciation for folk music.
Our 5th graders are exploring their musical creativity by improvising on the xylophones. They are having a fantastic time making up their own songs, using a fun poem to guide their rhythm. This exercise encourages them to experiment with melodies and rhythms, fostering a love for music and enhancing their improvisational skills.

Thanks to the PTSA for all their help with the Blue Ribbon Celebration, Read Across America Month, the recent dance, STEM activities, and many other activities they have sponsored this year.

1st/2nd Grade Combo Class -Ms. Berg's Class
Ms. Berg's classroom was filled with excitement as students dove into the fascinating world of robots. The students described the sequence of events they used to build their robots, worked together with their Team to create a model of their robot on the computer, and wrote an opinion writing piece. They created readable essays explaining how their robots will help the world. The activities created collaboration through exploration and conversations with peers and adults. They used the Kagan/Kagan Collaborative Model to practice their collaboration skills. It was great to see the students thrilled to see the progression of their robots, use problem-solving together, and build as a team.

Disposal of Medications and Sharps

Getting Rid of Unwanted Medicines:
On post, beneficiaries may bring unwanted medications to the pharmacy. Be sure to remove any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from the prescriptions. Check-in at the Qflow kiosk.
Off post, dispose of non-hazardous medicine in residual waste collection bins (Restmüll).
DO NOT DUMP medicine down the sink drain/toilet into the sewer system!
To dispose of sharps, you must pull a ticket for the LAB option for “Dropping Off Specimens” and they must be in a closed container. If you have sharps, you can also drop them off in the RBES Nurse's Office in the SHARPS container. This includes EpiPens. Please make sure there is no PII. Let me know if you have any questions.
