Children’s Author Inspires Young Readers During School Visit

Students and staff were thrilled to welcome acclaimed children’s author Cari Meister to Robinson Barracks Elementary School this week. Known for writing hundreds of books for young readers, both fiction and nonfiction, Meister’s visit was an unforgettable experience.
From the moment she arrived, students buzzed with excitement. They had been reading her books for weeks in anticipation, and it was clear she was just as eager to meet them. In addition to her published books, Meister also writes educational articles for PebbleGo, bringing a wealth of storytelling and publishing experience to her presentation.
During her visit, Meister shared how she creates characters and builds stories using key elements such as character, setting and plot. Students especially enjoyed hands-on activities that brought the creative process to life. A highlight of the day was when students selected items from her “story bags” to inspire new story ideas. Audience participation was strong, and students eagerly engaged in every part of the workshop.
Meeting a real-life author from the United States was a special experience. Meister explained the publishing process in a fun and easy-to-understand way, and she was impressed by how much students already knew about her work.
Meister is currently visiting several schools in the DoDEA Europe East district. Staff and students alike felt fortunate to be included in her tour.
Special thanks to the PTSA for supporting the event, which capped off this year’s Read Across America celebrations. Meister’s stories and her visit will continue to inspire students for a long time to come.
