Robinson Barracks Elementary School Kicks Off Month of the Military Child with Joyful Celebration

Robinson Barracks Elementary School launched its Month of the Military Child observance with a vibrant, schoolwide celebration on Monday, highlighting the strength and resilience of military-connected students and families.
With support from the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), the event transformed the school into a purple-themed wonderland — the official color honoring military children. The day began with a cheerful program led by Pre-K and kindergarten students, who welcomed attendees with enthusiasm. Teachers and staff joined the fun, showcasing their dance moves and adding to the festive spirit.
“The energy in the building was incredible,” said Principal Lisa Bell. “It was heartwarming to see our youngest learners lead the way and our staff fully embrace the celebration.”
Every student received a purple cupcake as a sweet treat on Tuesday afternoon, courtesy of the PTSA, which also donated purple T-shirts for students and staff. The coordinated apparel created a powerful visual — a sea of purple symbolizing unity and appreciation for military families.
This weeks event concluded with a schoolwide photo on the front lawn, capturing the joy, pride, and camaraderie of the Robinson Barracks community.
The celebration marks the beginning of a month-long series of activities and recognitions planned at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school. April is designated nationally as the Month of the Military Child to recognize the unique experiences and sacrifices of children in military families.
“This was just the beginning,” Bell added. “We’re looking forward to continuing the celebration and making sure every military-connected child knows how important they are to our school and community.”
